Depression

Depression

It’s a very common disorder affecting millions of people. Everyone occasionally feels sad or down, and these feelings usually go away within a couple of days. However, simply put, depression is sadness that lasts longer and interferes with your day-to-day life (i.e. relationships, work, school etc.). Other symptoms of depression include increased or decreased appetite and/or sleep, poor energy, decreased motivation and interest in pleasurable activities, feeling worthless or hopeless/helpless. Alcohol or drug use is also common among those with depression.

How Do You Experience Depression?

Depression can be a mild unhappiness or severe enough to cause self-harm or suicide. Women tend to experience depression as sadness, worthlessness, or guilt. Men are more likely to experience depression as fatigue, irritability/ anger, losing interest in pleasurable activities, or sleep problems.

Don’t wait another day to change your life. You can overcome depression.

Depression Therapy Program

Depression is a medical illness and not a sign of weakness. Depression is treatable and rarely goes away without treatment. Research shows that the combination of medication and psychotherapy is usually the best treatment for depression. With that said, medication may only have short-term effects whereas therapy and counseling has been shown to have more long-term effects and prevent depression from recurring.
